Renowned BC botanist Andy MacKinnon to speak at ‘Art of the Six Mountains’ exhibition on June 10

Andy MacKinnon has been affectionately dubbed the 'rockstar of botanists' and the 'guru of BC plants.'
And with good reason.

For three decades, MacKinnon served as a forest research ecologist with the provincial government. He was the lead BC scientist during Environment Canada's ranking of our province's threatened fungal species, and he’s been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science by Simon Fraser University.

MacKinnon is also the co-author of six best-selling field guides to western North America, including the iconic 'Plants of Coastal British Columbia' and the 'Mushrooms of British Columbia.'

And he has a new book coming out later this summer: 'Plants of the Pacific Coast: From Alaska to Oregon.' Visit: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cansciencebooks/plants-of-the-pacific-coast-from-alaska-to-oregon/

MacKinnon is guest speaker Wednesday, June 10, 7 pm, at the ‘Art of the Six Mountains’ exhibition co-sponsored by sixmountains.ca and the Cowichan Valley Arts Council, 2687 James St, Duncan, next to the library.
