Video: Indigenous fishing at Skutz Falls on the Cowichan River
Skutz Falls on the Cowichan River is impressive enough at this time of the year as salmon fight their way upstream against rain-swollen waters.
But the presence of Indigenous fishermen holding spears and dip-nets while standing alongside the falls and on a concrete fish ladder add an even more dramatic element.
Kayakers and rafters are also enjoying the challenging waters, putting in below the falls and travelling through Marie Canyon to the take-out downstream at Stoltz Pool.
Here’s a brochure with map of Cowichan River Provincial Park: https://bit.ly/3CW9vHG.
If you visit, keep a safe distance from the water’s edge.
