Entrepreneur born and raised in Cowichan Valley is third candidate in forthcoming byelection
The co-owner of a local hair salon has joined the race for the North Cowichan byelection.
Becky Hogg of Mint Hair was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley. She and her husband, Mike, have three grown sons.
Among Hogg’s campaign issues:
— greater RCMP presence, more bylaw officers and stronger provincial laws to keep unsafe people off of the streets.
— permit more property uses, speedier permit applications and focusing staff efforts on ways to provide more affordable housing.
— focus on core services: drinking water; sewer system; waste removal; safe roads and sidewalks; recreation facilities, parks & trails.
— expand addiction treatment services, including more detox options, mental-health supports and housing solutions.

Hogg said her politics align most closely with councillor Tek Manhas and that she would have joined him November 20 in support of amending the Official Community Plan to allow a major development north of Herd Road in the Bell McKinnon area.
Hogg participates in dragon boating and has served as a volunteer for Cowichan minor hockey. She is currently a board member with Purica Foundation, puricafoundation.com.
